(Laughs in Brooklyn Bishop)

A flashy Brooklyn pastor known for wearing designer outfits and extravagant jewelry says he was robbed along with his wife of more than $1 million while he was preaching at church Sunday.
Police say they received a report that three people entered the Leaders of Tomorrow church Sunday with firearms and removed the jewelry pastor Lamor Miller-Whitehead, who goes by Bishop, and his wife were wearing. Police noted the investigation is "ongoing."

we've all heard of persons who enter politics "poor", like bartenders....
but have you ever seen a politician leave office broke?
Didn't Bill & Hill "claim" they were broke when they left the WH? Must have made it all back mining bitcoin on a certain server.

Not unless they get thrown in prison, which happens too rarely; and maybe not even then.

This appears to be the case with that OTHER Georgia politician, Stacey Abrams, who's net worth is now in the millions, despite doing nothing but campaign half of her entire career (and having been out of office for a few years).

Both seem to have benefited by BOOK DEALS. Is writing a book THAT lucrative? I didn't even know either had written one.

Okay, replying to my OWN post. I had forgotten that she had a career writing romance novels under a pen name. Evidently, she's pretty good at it - however, she didn't make anywhere near as much money as she did once she burst onto the political scene. I can't comment on those books, because I know very little about them, except to say that once you achieve notoriety as a politician you can definitely make money doing public speaking and writing books, even if someone else ghost writes it (e.g. "Profiles in Courage").

I wonder if she uses phrases like "turgid girth".

I'm still fairly impressed by anyone who can write a novel. If I had to write, I could fill books with amusing true life stories and observations, things I've thought about and seen, non-fiction and history loaded with research - but I can't "create" a world out of whole cloth and make it believable. And the best I've ever done is write a short story. I don't know how to create a character that is 100% UNLIKE me, unless it is a caricature - and totally NOT credible. She was writing fiction under a pen name, unlike scores of politicians who write under their OWN name, cashing in on their celebrity (and as I observed earlier - VERY likely with the help of a professional).
