Nexium has worked wonders for me. I now take protonix. You can only take meds for so long. I have had several scopes. Also went to Georgetown to take the "other tests" to check my esophagus pressure etc. (not for the light hearted).

I don't eat bad. lots of fruit and veggies grains etc. Don't drink much alcohol.
I also have a hiatal hernia which complicates the matter.

If thats working for you, then why not just continue to take your medication as directed

1) Ins. won't cover nexium anymore. Like any medication over time it becomes lest effective.

2) I don't want to take medication for ever. This has been a problem off and on for 14 years.
