German food

So, a German friend of mine is in town for awhile and I want to take her for some real German food, as she says that's one of the main things she misses about home.

I was looking into a few places.

Old Stein Inn - Edgewater
Old Europe - DC
Biergartenhaus - DC
Cafe' Berlin - DC

Anyone have any experience with any of these places? I really want to try the Old Stein Inn.

There is a place in Quantico that is very good too, but the Old Stien Inn is good, and you can advertise it as.. "You want to have the MOST expensive Curry Wurst you've ever had in your LIFE!??"

The Curry Wurst was good, but in Germany Curry Wurst is like a Big Mac and fires found on the 99 cent menu.. NOT so much here.

We really love the Old Stein. They have 10 German biers on tap. The food is really good. I recommend the Cheese, Crab soup as an appetizer and Franziskaner on tap. My partner loves the Pork Champignon Rahm Schnitzel. Eat outside in the biergarten if you like eating outside. Check them out on line or on Facebook - they have entertainment in the biergarten most weekends. We hope to get to the Biergartenhaus soon to try that out. A co-worker recommended them.

Enjoy wherever you go! Prost!

I think Old Europe is better now. Old Stein is now owned by the son of the original owners and his food is no where as good. Very disappointed last time I went there. Changed menu and recipes. Americanized.

Seems only thing he wants that is German is having a lot of German Bier, (though most now all belong to Anheuser Busch InBev of Belgium).

Don't know the others.

Only problem with Old Europe is location on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown section of DC. Hard to get to and hard to park.
