Gertie: a sad day

We took Gertie to the vet today, and she didn't come back with us. She has been having neurological issues that have been progessively getting worse over the last several months. I am not going to get into the details because it is very sad. It was recommended by several vets that we have her put to sleep. She went very peacefully and closed her eyes for the last time today. It is very heart breaking for me because I have never had to do that before. I know she is in better place now and she can be happy. I will always remember her especially when she was happy and healthy.

So sorry DosGattos. :huggy: Thank you and Mr DosGattos for making such a huge difference in her life. I will never forget the day WharfRat brought her to the store and you picked her up. If a kitty ever needed someone to care for her, it was Gertie. She knew she was loved and safe. Bless you both :huggy:

Thank you everyone. She was well loved and will be greatly missed. I am just glad that we had the opportunity to care for her and give her a good life while she was with us.

I am so very sorry. I am glad tho that she knew love and happiness these past few months, and didn't have to progress thru this conditiion on her own out on the streets. Thank you for caring and for making a difference.

I am

Also very sorry I had to do this recently too to a long time pet. It is not easy but is the ultimate kindness that you can do for them. I understand completely.

sorry you had to do this dosgattos. Now gertie is up in kitty heaven playing with all cats that have been put to rest. She will be missed by the humans she grew up with though. I know how hard this has to be last october I had to put my 7yr old cat to sleep as something started attacking his red blood cells. I took him to the vet when he was 6 and found this out he got one extra good year of life then down hill he went. I still miss him dearly to this day as he was the cat who would sleep next to me at night and keep me warm and he would follow me around the house and if i sat down he got right up in my lap and made himself comfortable for a nice nap.
