I only have one question for those who have had to take the second test. Do you only have to drink the drink once or every hour before the blood is drawn??? When I drank it the other day it almost made me sick and the nurse told me I have to drink a higher concentrate of it so I am hoping I don't get sick.

the 1 hour test you only drink 50 grams of glucose. For the 3 hour test you drink 100 grams of glucose (whole bottle instead of 1/2). You only drink once. Blood drawn at fasting, 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 2 hour, and 3 hour.

It's been a while but all I remember was the second test I had to drink more and wait longer. Pure torture, outcome was giving myself insulin shots and a 9lb 10oz baby.

I had to get blood drawn 4 times once before I drank the drink and then 3 times after that.

I took my first one on Wenesday and failed it. I drank a bottle of the stuff. It was like a 16.9 oz bottle. She said I have to fast from midnight and have to be there at 8:30. I will have my blood drawn then have to drink a larger dose of the glucoe, then have it drawn every hour for 3 hours. But I wasnt sure if I only drink it once or more than once. Thanks.

whereever you had that done, they hosed up that test. A fasting blood sugar is a fasting blood sugar. They never draw it more than once before giving the glucose and if you had the 3 hour test, they always draw it 4 times after.

depending on the distributor of the glucose, the bottle may not be larger, it may just contain more glucose. 1 hour test is 50 mg of glucose, 3 hour is 100 mg.

Ok. I am not looking forward to that at all. I dont like getting my blood drawn either but Wenesday I felt like I was gonna be sick from that stuff so I can just imagine having to drink more of it. My daughters were fine, and I had no problem drinking that stuff.

If they have choices, try the orange flavored. It's all bad, but I think that is the least of the evils. It tastes like really flat orange soda (with an extra heaping of sugar)

At which week are you suppose to take the 1st test??

So the test came back that I do not have diabetes but I am borderline, whatever that means. But I guess they run a full blood count on you along with it and the second part came back that I am low on iron, really anemic (sp?) So I have to go see my doctor tomorrow and get a referal so that the OB can set me up a visit to the hospital to have an iron iv???? What is this? Does anyone know? I know I will find out tomorrow but was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it.

That's great news that you don't have diabetes.
