So I took advantage of the holiday rib roast sale and got two giant roasts - one cut up into steaks, the other split into two manageable roasts, bones reserved for the smoker. But this will probably be my last year of stocking up because I find that as my teeth age my interest in non-ground meat is less and less. It's not that my teeth are weak, but they're spacing out a bit and every time I eat meat I have to floss or it drives me crazy.

All those things I wondered about old people....I get it now. I do yoga and weights so I'm not all decrepit and achy and weak-ass, so that's something. But eating my whole restaurant meal never happens. Super-sizing my fries - nope. Hot hot hot Mexican and Asian food....also nope. Skin care is a religion, as is dental care. Making sure I get plenty of calcium every single day.

Apparently yoga is better for you than I thought - the latest Consumer Reports on how to age better, doing yoga is listed under almost every category.

I've been following Yoga by Adrienne for years. DIL thinks she talks too much. Once I have a routine down, I just turn the volume off and play my own music.

I defrost things by putting them in a pot of warm water on the stove. Today I put a cornish game hen in a pot, added water and turned on the burner. Takes a few minutes to get it up to temp, so did something else while I was waiting.

45 minutes later I remembered it was on the stove, now in a full rolling boil. So, I've got boiled game hen. Going to let it cool before taking the plastic off to see if I can grill it. If not, chicken salad.
