Gidget is fat

She eats like a starving wolverine, rushing to the food, pushing and shoving, like she hasn't eaten in a week. Ask Larry - he's seen this firsthand.

This is my first experience with a piggy cat, so I've always just kept food out and let them eat at their leisure. Kiki and Claudia have no problem with this, but Gidget thinks all the foodz are belong to her.

Feel free to make suggestions on how to keep all cats happy. Not that I'm going to take your advice - I'm way too lazy to individually feed three cats. That was the worst part of raising children, and I'm supposed to be free of that now that my kids are grown. So unless someone has a creative idea, Gidget is just going to have to be fat.

Throw her outside and let her HUNT for her food. She'll appreciate it more and get some wholesome exercise!

She runs around outside all the time. I shudder to think how fat she'd be if she stayed indoors.

Gurl has to keep the food put away, and she has a feeding schedule 'cuz Manny's a pig.

They make a lot of different auto pet feeders, but then I don't know how you'd go about making sure they all eat from their own bowl, and that would get expensive. Them things cost a nice chunk of change.

Vrai, how "fat" is fat? My girls are 16 pounds and 20 pounds. They are both on Iams Weight Control. Neither has signs of diabetes and vet says as long as they don't gain, they are fine. They are both around 10 years old, have dry food available all the time and get a very small portion of canned as treats twice a day.

She's not "fat" fat, just a bit chubby - let's call her maybe 5 or 6 lbs. Dry food is down all the time, but Claudia has old teeth so she gets canned twice a day. Once she's done eating what she wants, Gidget comes in and cleans up the rest.
