(--ANCHOR LEAD--)

A FLORIDA GIRL WHO'S BEEN HICCUPING FOR MORE THAN FIVE WEEKS WOKE UP PLEASANTLY SURPRISED THIS MORNING (THURSDAY).

(-- VO --)

15-YEAR-OLD JENNIFER MEE IS NOW HICCUP-FREE!

JENNIFER HAD ATTRACTED NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION WITH HER ENDLESS HICCUPING, AND EVEN APPEARED ON N-B-C's "TODAY" SHOW, TRYING COUNTLESS SUGGESTED REMEDIES, INCLUDING ACUPUNCTURE AND HYPNOTISM.

IT'S NOT YET KNOWN WHY JENNIFER'S HICCUPS HAVE MYSTERIOUSLY STOPPED.

SHE'S JUST GLAD THEY'RE GONE.

(-- SOT --)

(Jennifer Mee / No More Hiccups :06)
"Monday, I'm going back to school for sure. That was the first thing I told my Mom is that I want to go back to school."

-----------ADDITIONAL INFORMATION----------------

JENNIFER BEGAN HICCUPING AT SCHOOL ON JANUARY 23rd AND THE HICCUPS WOULDN'T STOP.

SHE AND HER FAMILY CONSULTED SPECIALISTS FROM FLORIDA TO NEW YORK, WITH NO SUCCESS.

JENNIFER THEN TOOK HER PLIGHT TO THE TODAY SHOW, WHERE THOUSANDS OF SUGGESTED REMEDIES FLOODED IN FROM VIEWERS AFTER HER APPEARANCE.

THE CONDITION FORCED JENNIFER TO STOP ATTENDING SCHOOL.

SHE'S ALSO HAD PROBLEMS SLEEPING.

AFTER WAKING UP THIS MORNING WITH NO HICCUPS, JENNIFER PHONED "TODAY" SHOW PRODUCERS TO REPORT THE GOOD NEWS.

:coffee: Part of me finds that whole story a little bogus. I saw her on the Today show when it aired and found it a little odd that her hiccups would stop whenever she talked, regardless of how long a sentence was. Most hiccups I've seen disregard when you are speaking. Her mom claimed she was in so much pain too. She didn't looked distressed at all. Now, I've had hiccups, granted not more than an afternoon, but really, the whole story to me, screamed of media hoax. If she was hiccupping that long, God Love Her, but it just seemed too much, maybe a way to get some TV coverage and out of school. Hmmmmmm...
