NEW YORK -- Glamour’s annual Women of the Year list always takes in a lot of territory, from noteworthy fashionistas and sports heroes to social justice activists and business leaders.

Enter Bono, the first Man of the Year among the magazine’s Women of the Year honorees, all to be feted at a Nov. 14 ceremony in Los Angeles.

“We’ve talked for years about whether to honor a man at Women of the Year and we’ve always kind of put the kibosh on it. You know, men get a lot of awards and aren’t exactly hurting in the celebration and honors department,” said Cindi Leive, Glamour’s editor-in-chief.

“But it started to seem that that might be an outdated way of looking at things, and there are so many men who really are doing wonderful things for women these days. Some men get it, and Bono is one of those guys.”

Oh good, just the topic I wanted to discuss!

Kindle Newsstand has free magazine downloads for Prime members, so last night I got Elle and Glamour to see if there were any nail polish trends I needed to know about. These magazines are filled with mind numbing inanity. There's a section of Q&A for the socially confused and the question this month was some girl wondering if it makes her less of a feminist if she wants the guy to pay on the first date. (Vrai's answer: Yes) One of the answers from the panel of expert retards was no, because the gender pay gap means that the man should always pay.

Anyway, both magazines were filled with girl power and rah rahing about how amazing women are, coupled with ridiculous advice on how to snag a guy and keep him ...then they choose a *man* to be Woman of the Year. Oh, and they chose a man last year, too. So apparently these baby "feminists" don't think any women accomplish enough to be Woman of the Year. And PS, they also give a Man of the Year award, so it's not like they couldn't have given Bono that award and had an actual, you know, woman be Woman of the Year.

I remember reading Cosmo when I was much younger, until my cortex fused so conscious thinking could begin. On one page: you don't need a man, you are amazing on your own. Next page: how to give him a blow job so he'll never leave you. Just...my god.

This is why women are such idiots and vote for criminals like Hillary Clinton: garbage in, garbage out. Their minds are atrophied.

This. I still can't believe you follow celebs and read some of the crap you read. I've never understood that, but I digress.
I've never been a big magazine person. I could probably count on one had how many cosmo's I've bought, and the only time I buy anything else regarding celebs is when I see a story about Tom Cruise and Katy Holmes. I don't know what it is about that duo. Maybe her infinite appearance of innocence and vulnerability, but I feel compelled to somehow "watch over" her. I find myself wanting to be her advocate, or some such nonsense. Or, maybe what I'm really waiting for is to read about Tom getting bent over in a major way, because I can't stand him.

So, in my beat-around-the-bush, roundabout way of getting to the point. These days, I waste my money on interior decorating and design books, and lemme tell ya', those things can get expensive.

I LOVE Magazines! I used to have over a dozen subscriptions. I studied Advertising and Magazine Design in college. I used to get Cosmo and Glamour bc that's what was expected of an early 20-something. Made me feel less weird for also subscribing to Country Living, House Beautiful, BH&G, and other décor mags when I was nowhere near living in my own place  However, when I realized the blow job articles were completely taking over and less fun fashion was being discussed (or maybe I finally just grew up and realized they were all along), I cancelled and found more décor mags to follow

I read ALL the crap. I am a crap connoisseur. Well, maybe not all the crap, but a good bit of it. You know that I am a human dissection enthusiast, so the psychology of celebrity culture fascinates me. I love the cooking mags, although not so much anymore since we started living on the road. I like to see what the girlies are wearing and get beauty product recommendations, which is why I hung onto my Buzzfeed app for so long. I like fitness mags to motivate me (not that it works, but it should damn it).

But I'm an adult with a fully formed personality and brain, and I'm not going to be overly influenced by what the 20-somethings consider crucial adulting techniques while they're still discovering their piggies and fingers. It's just dismaying that these "women's" magazines aren't more friendly toward actual women.

...then they choose a *man* to be Woman of the Year.

Didn't we just have several threads about checking your source and reading comprehension? They chose a man as *GASP* man of the year. They also chose their usual woman of the year. And their criteria for which man they chose for man of the year was how supportive that man was of causes important to women. So, do you now count as one of your so called atrophied minded women?
