I usually don't watch this guy, but found this from a recent show and was mildly amused.

We moved here in Nov 2006 and chose not to purchase a home since I was convinced the amrket was heading south. We'll be leaving in about 18 montsh or so, boy am I glad we chose base housing instead. I feel bad for all of our classmates who bought and will be stuck selling at a loss or trying to rent out thier homes from a distance.

I can't stand Glenn Beck anymore... I can understand people not wanting to "waste" their BAH by living in housing for a few years. However, we have done the same thing for the last few duty stations because we had a feeling that prices were rising too quickly. We still have a house in CA that we bought for $107,000 in 2000. Two years after we bought it, it was appraised at $206,000 and a few years after that it went upwards of $300,000. I can tell you it was not worth that much and is not worth that much now.

Renting long distance can be tough and it's especially difficult when people have hefty mortgage payments to cover. I was looking on militarybyowner.com, and some of the houses have some pretty steep rent prices. I feel bad for people who won't be able to sell or will sell at a loss, but many people saw this coming.
