Have any of you had the problem with your tire not seeding to the rim.
My front tire has been going flat alot lately, so I get SO to take it off and see what the problem is. No holes or slashes goes to put tire back on rim the problem is found it won't seed in about 5 or 6 spots.

I've been searching the web, but nothing...

Any help would be appreciated

It helps to put some soapy water around the bead and rim area. Then you may have to over inflate it to get it to seat properly.

Are they new tires? Damage to the rim? When you mounted the tire did you use some lube on the bead or the tire like a mild liquid soap?

I assume you are saying that the tiring is leaking around the bead. I would take it to a shop, and have the tire pulled off and use bead sealer on the beading when the tire gets put back on. I would also have them put the tire in a tub of water with about 40+ lbs of air in it, to insure it is not leaking anywhere else.

It was taken to a shop where he works. He said he did pull it completly off and inflate check for holes. He also said that he did the mild soap thing and it still won't seat. He said there is some mild corrison where the chrome is flaking of the rim and believes this is why it won't seat. He was wondering if he grinded it down to get all the flake off would that help?

It is possible but not likely.

So that would be a bad idea?

If in grinding he removes too much it probably wont seat. If he has to remove a lot it will be a bear to balance the wheel.

I would try it, who knows it might hold air and you never have a problem again.

Using beed sealer should fix it as long as it is not a huge leak. The tire does have to be pulled off though.

What kind of car is it? You could probably pick up a used rim at Brandywine Used Auto parts for about $25 if it is too bad. OBTW, Check the valve stems too.

Sounds like you might have hit a pothole or something and bent the edge of the rim just enough to allow seepage.
