The intent I picked up was "you don't have to be scared of buying a GM car or truck because of the worry of them going out of business and you getting left holding the bag with a problem vehicle, because you have the full faith and credit of the U.S Government that it's not going to happen, regardless of how GM's problems get resolved.
What song would you be singing if you were a GM worker Bob?
No, the song the President sang was.. BUY GM, when they do go out of business we'll honor your warranties..
Why would the government honor the warranties for a company that is still in business?
I'm not a GM worker.. not an issue. If they built a quality product that people wanted they wouldn't be in the situation they are in now. Myself, I bought two Dodges in my lifetime, will never own another one.. two Chevy's, their resale was CRAP, won't buy another one (I gave both of them TWO chances because I thought I'd be unpatriotic if I bought Japanese)... 2 or 3 Nissans, and will probably buy another one some day.. A Honda.. will definitely buy another one.. and a Land Rover.. still on the fence with that one. I might just try Toyota next time.. or Subaru.. I've REALLY like the Subaru's I've rented.
GM goes under, we'll suffer, their workers won't suffer because the Union will take care of them
and we'll recover. I don't think anyone even misses AMC anymore.. and they even had AMERICAN in their name.. and nobody made a big deal when they went under.
When Chrysler took a bailout years ago, did the President at the time stick his hands in the daily operations of Chrysler?? Did he fire the CEO and appoint who wanted to run it, or did Chrysler recover on their own? You think someone might have learned from that, and realized the less government intrusion the better the chance of survival.
