Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This is from the commentary.

If God is for us, who can be against us? If all we had were the first few chapters of the Book of Romans, some might believe that God was against us. Now that Paul has shown the lengths that God went to save man from His wrath and equip him for victory over sin and death, who can doubt that God is for us?
Who can be against us? Likewise, despite the suffering Christians face, if God is for them, what does it matter if others are against them? One person plus God makes an unconquerable majority.
I've told y'all before. I watch a lot of Westerns. Hubby is retired too so we can be found in the living room, most days, watching TV and crocheting. I think the Westerns back in the day were required to have a lesson to learn. There was hardly ever any blood. Most of the time, when a person was gunshot, there was not blood, but if they were bashed over the head.... the head might leak. [I know... odd huh!]

Every old Western had a moral to learn. People were in the middle of nowhere with no one to set or enforce the laws. They were always battling strangers or the bad guys or the weather. There were countless programs about how someone with no real fighting skills, won out over the bad guy. Somehow the good guy always won.... even if it seemed hopeless.

Preachers in the old Westerns were either very good or very bad. The bad preachers were generally stealing from the church or lording their will over everyone with fake Bible quotes. The good preachers were definitely good and everyone loves it when the good guy wins. The good preachers hardly ever use a gun to settle anything. They pray and the gunman comes to town to protect them all. AND the gunman is a good Christian too!

Some of the modern shows are not so "good and evil" focused. Modern gunshots bleed. Modern punches can even draw blood and bruise right before our eyes. Preachers are, shall we say, very modern. There is always a good moral in the old Westerns, the new Westerns.... Well, they are just for entertainment. Humans have a dark need for entertainment, apparently.

According to the scripture, Christians are on the good side. Our stories always turn out the way God wants them to turn out. We pray for good and God supplies it. God already knows what we'll be needing. The troops are already on the way. When the enemy tries to starve us out.... God helps us endure. When the bully has us trapped, God will run interference for us. When disease is poised to take over the town, God supplies the traveling doc. When death happens, there is always a shovel. It's always the "good guy" who survives. The "good woman" gets her man. God is in control and He makes everything turn out morally correct.

The "good guy" only gets shot when it serves a greater purpose. The "good guy" only gets hung for the greater good. When the "good guy" gets hung... The story has a greater moral. Even the hero gets sick, or shot, or run over by the herd. The hero never dies though. The hero has God on their side.

After all, Christians never die. They have eternal life.

Christians can count on God to "Save the Day".

God makes heroes.
