Cruz Takes Action In Pushing Federal Agency To Investigate GoFundMe For Canceling Freedom Convoy

“Today I sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission asking that the FTC open an investigation into GoFundMe into whether they’ve committed deceptive trade practices,” Cruz told Fox News on Sunday. “Because when people gave money, they gave money under the promise it would go to the Freedom Convoy, not to whatever left-wing political ideology GoFundMe and other Silicon Valley companies support. They are deceiving consumers and it is wrong.”

Cruz’s comments come after GoFundMe canceled the Freedom Convoy fundraiser after it had raised approximately C$10 million for the truckers and already distributed C$1 million of the funds.

GoFundMe initially said in-part that it was going to send the remainder of the funds to other “credible and established charities”:

Organizers provided a clear distribution plan for the initial $1M that was released earlier this week and confirmed funds would be used only for participants who traveled to Ottawa to participate in a peaceful protest. Given how this situation has evolved, no further funds will be directly distributed to the Freedom Convoy organizers — we will work with organizers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities verified by GoFundMe.

GoFundMe are scum, no question.

The question of legality: is there anything in GFM’s terms of service, buried in the fine print that nobody reads, that technically allows them to do that?

As soon as I heard they were using GoFundMe, I knew this would be the outcome. They have a long history of doing this..wasn't Kyle Rittenhouse a recent case?

If the following info is true, it shows you what a real piece of crap the people who make these decisions are:

And don't forget, these decisions are made by people. Companies are just fictitious legal entities. Companies don't breath air or make decisions.

And no, this is not a call to action to do something stupid to these people. People who threaten other people are idiots. Just look at their faces and be aware that these are the type of people who are ****ing up the world right now.

I feel like if a small independent baker can be forced to make a gay wedding cake, GFM and all those tech oligarchs should be legally obligated to include conservative opinion and causes.

If go fund me has a problem with who the money is going to they should make that decision before they start taking people's money. Waiting until the fund is up to 10 million dollars to shut it down is a bad decision and theft.

Go fund me takes a portion of that money, fine they have bills to pay like everyone else does.
But who watches to see what portion they take?

Probably a shocking message here to SOME OF YOU.

(Hark!!! you mean if I throw money out of my speeding Yaris for the benefit of some, other people may steal it?)
That would depend on how fast you were driving.

Nine Times GoFundMe Told Conservatives to Go F U

The GoFundMe crowdfunding website’s motto is “trusted fundraising for all of life’s moments.” As we’ve seen through the years, however, the company can’t be trusted to support all of life’s moments, only life moments with which the woke mob agrees. You’d think people who hold more conservative views would have figured this out by now, but the Canadian truckers didn’t. Maybe they didn’t think what they were doing would be associated with any political side, but was simply pro-freedom. Surely a pro-freedom message against an illiberal, authoritarian government in Ottawa would straddle many political strata, right? Wrong.

One mustn’t go against the authoritarian government/Big Tech matrix. So, over the weekend, the GoFundMe behemoth bid adieu to the Canadian pro-freedom truckers and pocketed the approximately $10,000,000 raised on their behalf. The company says “no further funds will be directly distributed to the Freedom Convoy organizers – we will work with organisers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities verified by gofundme.” Ordinarily, this would be considered theft, but not if the one doing the stealing is Leftist. Please see the redefinition of “looting” if you doubt that assertion. After much outrage and haranguing, the company said it would give the money back to the donors.

Now, here are a few who weren’t. See if you can spot a pattern.

  • Kyle Rittenhouse supporters were not allowed to fundraise on the website. Defending oneself against attacks by the Left’s pet protesters, it turns out, is not allowed. When Rittenhouse jumped to GiveSendGo, Discover credit card cut off the ability to give money to that fundraiser. You might want to make a note of that.
  • A “Save America” rally fundraiser by a conservative couple to oppose COVID-19 mandates was cut off.
  • Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire set up a fundraiser for Congresswoman Alexandria Cortez’s grandmother to buy a new ceiling. But it was cut off when “someone” informed the fundraising platform that AOC’s abuela wouldn’t accept the funds.
  • A so-called “militia” group whose members possess guns and patrol the southern border were tossed off gofundme for being hateful.
  • Colleague Robert Spencer who runs the influential anti-terror website Jihad Watch was de-platformed on gofundme. Being against terrorism is punishable by the Left.
  • Christian bakery owners Aaron and Melissa Klein were thrown off gofundme because they wouldn’t make a cake for a same-sex wedding.
  • Baltimore police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray were cut off from raising defense fund money from the site. Eventually, charges were dropped against all the officers involved in the case of the heroin dealer’s death.
  • The effort by a Texas nurse to raise money for an anti-COVID-19 mandate lawsuit was de-platformed over what the site claimed was “misinformation.”
  • And, of course, the anti-vaccine mandate fundraiser by the Canadian truckers was cut off.

Its 2.9% plus .30 per transaction. If they shutdown the fund and will return the monies its up to the donors to complain if they were charged a fee.

Big Tech vs the working class

We need to talk about GoFundMe’s withholding of millions of dollars from the Canadian truckers protesting against vaccine mandates. This is union-busting 21st-century style. This is a multimillion-dollar company using its corporate clout to starve working-class activists of funds. This is a signal from Silicon Valley, clear and loud, that it will wield its power to crush any form of political agitation from ‘the lower orders’ that pushes too hard against the political consensus. Anyone who thinks this clash between a profit-making fundraising website and drivers pissed off at being pushed around by Covid authoritarians is just another weird online spat needs to think again. This is far more than that. It is a scoping out of the battlelines over freedom and power that are likely to define the internet era.

GoFundMe’s deprivation of funds to the truckers protesting against Canada’s vaccine rules is, to my mind, one of the most egregious and anti-democratic acts yet carried out by the California-based elites who oversee the World Wide Web. These truckers, such essential workers, are revolting against Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s introduction of a new rule earlier this month stipulating that truckers who cross the Canada-US border will need to be vaccinated or else go into quarantine after every trip. This is a mad demand. It would severely undermine some truckers’ ability to earn a living. So truckers have risen up. They drove their vast rigs across Canada in what came to be known as the Freedom Convoy before stopping in the capital Ottawa where they have been blocking roads and causing fainting fits among middle-class liberals who cannot understand why these oiks won’t just carry on dropping off sacks of kale to the local Whole Foods and stop going on about their pesky rights.

Texas and Missouri open investigations into GoFundMe for blocking Freedom Convoy donations

"GoFundMe’s response to an anti-mandate, pro-liberty movement should ring alarm bells to anyone using the donation platform and, more broadly, any American wanting to protect their constitutional rights," said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in a press release Wednesday.

Paxton also accused the fundraising platform of hypocrisy. "Many Texans showed their solidarity with Canadian truckers, who are proudly protesting vaccine mandates, by donating through GoFundMe," he said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

GoFundMe allows page for Minneapolis gunman Andrew Sundberg after axing one for NYC bodega clerk Jose Alba

GoFundMe is allowing a small fortune to be collected for kin of the Minneapolis gunman fatally shot by cops after he fired at neighbors, while hard-working Manhattan bodega clerk Jose Alba’s fund got the ax, critics rage.

The fund-raiser for the family of dead Minnesota shooter Andrew “Tekle’’ Sundberg, 20, surpassed its goal of $20,000 within three days, hitting $20,500 by Monday afternoon.

Yet the GoFundMe page for Alba — who killed an ex-con attacker in apparent self-defense at the store — got pulled a day after his case came to light.

“#GoFundMe should be ASHAMED of themselves!” a fuming critic tweeted Monday. “#JoseAlba defended himself. #TekleSundberg was shooting into a home at a mother and two young children. SHAME ON YOU!”

Another Twitter user simply called GoFundMe’s move, “Unreal.”
