Good doctor for thyroid problems?

I hope someone can help me. I need to find a doctor who can work with me and really listen to me about my thyroid problem. I am on armour thyroid but feel like I am not on a high enough dosage. I am still tired, depressed, overweight, puffy under eyes, hair loss, etc. there is a strong family history of thyroid problems. My "lab numbers" show my thyroid levels are "normal" but I still feel rotten.

Is there anyone around here who really understands the thyroid?

Thank you for any info.

The girl goes to Dr Krajewski in Leonardtown.....after going through about 15 endocrinologist in the 4 years since she was diagnosed, Krajewski was the only one that listened enough to get all her levels where they needed to be(and discovered about when and why her thyroid stopped working)....would send the girl anywhere else

Dr. Dorota A. Krajewski, MD - Phone & Address Info

I am not sure were you are, but Dr. O'Keefe in Prince Frederick is good:

Dr. Julie A. O'Keefe, MD, Endocrinology, Prince Frederick, MD

I did not really care for her bedside manner (I think she comes off as a little blunt), but she knows what she is talking about.

The girl went to her for a while....I have to agree, she is rather lacking in the bedside manner skills....the girl was 16 when she went and by the time we got to the car, she was in tears from the things O'Keefe was telling her....one visit and I was calling my insurance company to get a different doctor

Thanks for your replies! I had heard of Dr. O'Keefe and called about an appointment last year. She was not taking patients outside Calvert Co. I will look into the other doctor you mentioned. Thank you so much.

Dr. Cantero. She has an office in Prince Frederick and Annapolis. Don't know if she's taking new patients.

Endocrinologist

I also go to Dr. O'Keefe. While those who said she was lacking in bedside manner, I believe you have to understand where she is coming from. I really liked her after the first time. She has helped me with a situation outside her realm and believe she will continue to help me to get to the bottom of the problem that I have. I would recommend her to anyone.

I am so very blessed
I just went last week up to see my doctor in Waldorf. Dr. William Levy. He also has a practice in Silver Spring, I think. He's been recognized multiple years in Washingtonian magazine as one of the best specialists in the DC metro area.

Don't waste your time with local doctors. I wasted about 10-12 years with doctors locally. They don't know what they are talking about. You will have to drive a bit, but go to GWU and see Dr. Michael Thompson. He is an endocrinologist at George Washington University. Wonderful doctor, listens, excellent bedside manner, never rushes you. And the best thing is that he is ok with you coming to see him once a year or when you have problems/issues. Other than that he communicates with you via email and phone and mails me or emails me my lab slips for bloodwork. Every local doctor I have been to for thyroid, expects you to come see them just to get a lab slip, and than come see them again to get the results. No necessary at all. I also learned A LOT from him just after one visit. Things that the local doctors/specialists never even told me.
