I heard that an 8 year old kid found an envelope in the parking lot of Target in First Colony. It was Saturday and had been raining so the envelope was wet and soggy. Much to his surprise it had $1400 in it!!! He did the right thing and turned it in to a Sheriffs deputy. The person who lost it was seen on the store video and they were able to track him down. The kid did the right thing, even though, as of today, he was not rewarded in any way. That $1400 laid in the parking lot for over 30 minutes. If it had been my $$, I would have peeled off a $100 and given it to the kid, but that's just me....

Good on that kid and his parents! So nice to hear things like this every once in awhile to restore a little faith in humanity.

Yes, I agree that a reward would have been very appropriate in this instance. This kid did the right thing, and I give lots of credit to his parents for teaching him what the right thing to do is. And I'd bet he didn't do the right thing with a reward on his mind.

I once left a wallet with $1200.00 cash in my shopping cart. A bag boy found it and left it intact and put it in the safe. I tried to give him a reward, but he refused.

I know that if it had been my cash, I would have been physically sick at losing it. I wonder if an adult had found it, the same result would have happened. I think kids sometimes have a better sense of right and wrong, maybe more innocence. I am sure he did not do it for a reward....if that were the case he probably thought the $1400 was reward enough...

Doing the right thing is its own reward, but yeah, the owner should have thanked him with cash.
