You can all call me a sissy dad, i don't care. The only thing i was not prepared for with fatherhood was how fast the little ones grow up, they grow up way too quick and there are to many remember whens. Cherish every second. I know this was addressed to the Moms, but being a Dad i could relate to it to.

I knew I would tear up before I even read it, but I am glad I did. Very sweet poem, and very true.

RPMDAD, having met your son; I can say I think you and your wife are great parents. He is a nice, smart and polite young man with a bright future ahead of him.

sissy daddy!! (sniff!)

My 24 yo brought back a bunch of old pics my ex gave her to give to me.

I cried for 3 days looking at them

Another one - and it's been my favorite since I sold Home Interiors & Gifts back in the 80's.

A Touch of Love

You were six months old and full of fun.
With a blink of my eye, you were suddenly one.

There were so many things we were going to do,
But I turned my head and you turned two.

At two you were very dependent on me,
But independence took over when you turned three.

Your third birthday, another year I tried to ignore,
But when I lit the candles, there weren't three, but four.

Four was the year that you really strived.
Why, look at you now, you're already five.

Now you are ready for books and for rules.
This is the year that you go to school.

The big day came, you were anxious to go.
We walked to the bus; going oh, so slow.

As you climbed aboard and waved goodbye,
I felt a lump in my throat and tears stung my eyes.

Time goes by so fast, it's hard to believe
That just yesterday you were here home with me.

And tomorrow when the bus brings you home and when you jump to the ground,
You'll be wearing your cap and graduation gown.

So I'm holding to these moments as hard as I can,
Because the next time I look, I'll be seeing a man.

I tried to read that ^ poem at a HI Party during my training. My manager had asked me to do it, because she would tear up whenever she did. There was a new picture out called "A Touch of Love" which is a mother holding a very small boy.

I told her if my job depended on it, I would - but there was just no way I could see myself reading it - I was :bawl: in the car on the way to the Demo show! She didn't put me through that - she read it and we all teared up.

I wasn't married or even thinking about kids then - but years later when Thing2 was only about 2yo, I found the picture at a yardsale! I think I had to write to Home Interiors to get a copy of the poem. I printed it out and it has been hanging on my wall with the picture beside it in each of my homes since then.

And as Thing2 is about to graduate this year - I can look at this poem and see each of them through all of those stages mentioned. (it helps overpower the "harder" times!)

Ass-hole
Mine son is 20 now and it seems like yesterday when I was helping coach him in T-ball. They do grow up way too fast. :buddies:

Sweet 16

^^8^^
Mine is 21 now. I remember dancing him around his room with his little legs wrapped around my waist when he couldn't sleep. The first time he was too big to do that anymore I nearly broke down. Such sweet memories.

Thanks a lot! :bawl:

My little man is about to turn 5 and every day I'm amazed at how fast he's growing up. Sometimes it truly feels like I just brought him home from the hospital last week.

We got a kitten a few months ago and he's already getting so big. My son said yesterday, "Mommy, I wish he would stay this little forever and not get any bigger". I told him I felt the same way about both of them and he looked at me like I was crazy!
