Retroactively, Panel Reduces Drug Sentences

"WASHINGTON — The agency that sets guidelines for federal prison sentences voted unanimously on Tuesday to lighten punishments retroactively for some crimes related to crack cocaine, a decision that could eventually affect about 19,500 inmates and mean freedom for some within months."

Actually, it's only for crack cocaine.

So, I guess crack is less harmful than weed now. :bs:

80-something percent of drug arrests are for the non-lethal, non-violent, non-dangerous Marijuana.

What's their excuse for lightening punishment from cocaine and not Mary Jane?

Easy, politics. It is suicide to argue fair terms for drug offenders, especially in election years. That is why the powder vs crack item took so long to settle.
Doesnt matter that mass jailing of minor drug users does nothing to combat abuse and trafficking...
Pot may be more benign than alcohol, but the will of the people is to go hard on users.

When our education system is "Pot kills you smoking it, even on the first time" and all the other lies they tell, of course the will of people is strong.

"The effects of Marijuana can last 6-12 hours" :jet: I want that stuff!

Once they face up to it, we can proceed with a healthy debate. THERE ARE NO LONG TERM NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF SMOKING MARIJUANA!!! ADMIT IT AND LET'S MOVE ON!
