Goodbye Country Docks

Early this morning a fire broke out at the old building, 231 and the bridge, wonder how that happened, place has been a dump for several years. It looks from pictures that I saw it may have burnt to the ground. They need to bulldoze whatever is left and cleanup that eyesore.

Just the night before Calvert had a 2 alarm fire around 3am at Abners Crab House in Cheaspeake Beach, with major damage to the place.

Volunteers in Calvert not catching much sleep past 2 nights.

That building used to be the VFW when I was a kid. I remember going to Halloween parties there

I watched the fire out of my kitchen window.

OK... It was an eyesore... Glad it's gone, just wish it would have taken out the trailer park... :yahoo:

I was surprised that Irene didn't take out that trailer park. Most of those trailers look like even a small storm would blow them over. Some trailer parks look decent and are well kept up, that just isn't one of them.

Heard at one point that whole place was bought out and new owners were slowly moving out residents of those mobile homes. Plans were to build upscale waterfront housing.

There are a bunch of kids that live there that mess with the animals and boats and many complaints have been made.

At least one eyesore is gone. Sad that such a once great place is now ashes.

Abners was arson: two 13 year olds from the beach started the fire.

Yep. That's why we got rid of our mailbox and have PO box now.

The people living there were taking your mail? Or vandalizing your box? Or both? It seems that there are tons of people living in that dump. Everytime I drive by it on the way to/from Waldorf, it looks like there's a party going on. Guess nobody in there works? Is it primarily section 8 housing?

I think Section 8 and trailer go hand in hand...
