Goose creek fishing report 6/3

I drove over to Hogs Point to check on the fishing. Half a dozen anglers getting some white perch and croaker on blood worms. The gnats were crazy thick. They would swarm your head and drive you crazy.

Next stop was Goose Creek. The tide was high and there were lots of splashes near the bridge. I couldn't pass up the opportunity so I tied on a beetle spin and proceeded to hook an undersized rockfish. Next hit was a ray that kept me busy for around 20 minutes. After all that I lost him right next to where I was fishing when it got too close to the rocks.

I put a small bucktail jig on and proceeded to catch 5 more rockfish. All were undersized. While I didn't have any fish to take home, it was fun just the same. Other fishermen there claim that there are a few larger fish mixed in with all the dinks. It was nice and breezy on the bay side, so bugs were not an issue.
