Mom #2 called last night, 'Come on over; I have a surprise for you.' So, I go. "This is for all the yard work you've done for me."

That is an excellent present! How are you going to cook it?

I wanted to cook it over hardwood; those briquettes that Lowe's sells; but it's either gonna be too cold or too windy. So another way is to season the heck out of it and roast it in the oven. That's not as tasty; but it's close.
If cooked correctly; barbecue or roasted, it looks kinda like this.

The weather for the next couple days is supposed to be mild, so you could probably grill/smoke it.

Suggestion, If you go the "roasted route", sear-it first in a heavy skillet (cast iron), then toss the whole skillet in the oven.

I've done that with small pork roasts; never tried doing that with beef. I guess if moderately to liberally seasoned, the tri-tip might taste barbecued.
Thanks :buddies:
