Bots surge ahead in March
Robert Lemos 2007-03-22
The number of compromised computers that are part of a centrally controlled bot net has tripled in the past two weeks, according to data gathered by the Shadowserver Foundation, a bot-net takedown group.

The weekly tally of bot-infected PCs tracked by the group rose to nearly 1.2 million this week, up from less than 400,000 infected machines two weeks ago. The surge reversed a sudden drop in infected systems--from 500,000 to less than 400,000--last December.

Overwhelming virus protection software...

http://www.securityfocus.com/news/11446

When the Storm Worm swept through the Internet in mid-January, the program's writers took a brute force approach to evading antivirus defenses: They created a massive number of slightly different copies of the program and released them all at the same time.
On January 18, the day the misnamed program--a Trojan horse, not a worm--first appeared, more than 350 different variants were released, according to report penned by security firm CommTouch Software. Four days later, the number of slightly-different versions jumped to more than 7,300. By the end of January, more than 54,000 variants had hit the Internet, the report (PDF) stated, each one spammed out by computers previously compromised by the program.

Boy, don't come in here acting like you know crap about computers. Bots have been a problem ever since broadband.

If you know what you're doing, you don't get spyware. The only times my computers ever been majorly affected was when I've done something stupid, like click "Yes" to something I shouldn't.

Spyware, nor the internet, isn't the problem. It's people who don't know how to use a computer that is.

What the the hell does a 19 year old punk kid know about computer science?

Go out and get yourself at least a Bachelor or Science degree before you talk to me about CIS.

Maybe you ought to go outside once in awhile and get some vitamin K???

I'll give you some advice for free: In the professional world, these certifications don't mean crap. What counts is a degree, references and experience. Any high school kid can grab a cram book and get his cert, but a diploma, experience, and good references is what will get you the job and salary you want. BS is good for government work, and a Masters degree is better for private company. PHD's are overkill.

Really, I don't know anyone who tries to impress people by listing all of his certs.

You haven't figured out that I'm protecting my privacy from members on this board who have physically threatened me? Even if they weren't serious, why take the chance with the the rest of the psychotic eavesdroppers who leave me some serious negative karma comments.

So instead, you're going to resort to telling me I'm an idiot and don't know as much about computers as you do even though you say nothing to back it up.
