Received this email this moring...Tri Cty Shelter - 301-932-1713.

DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYONE THAT WOULD WANT TO TAKE A 14 YEAR OLD F SHEP MIX. WILL BE PTS TUESDAY 7/24 AT NOON. She is in Cage 28. This would be a sanctuary situation or just someone who likes senior dogs. She is so beautiful and sweet. She looked at me, and my heart was just taken. She only has until tomorrow. (which is now today.)

Anyone looking to give an old girl a home and a good place to lay her head, pls call the shelter ASAP. Thanks.

if i could take her i would. kudos to you for trying to find a home. i'd drink like a fish everynight if i had to work there.

Me too...its a depressing job for them, I'm sure. If I had the room, I'd take her and let her live out the rest of her life in happiness. Poor old girl, guess her number is up now.

Help "Invisible Dogs"
It's really sad when an animal has lived this long and all of a sudden winds up at the shelter as a "stray", how can someone have a dog and not go look for it when it wanders off? I mean, if the dog is this old, someone at one time must have cared for it.

I just signed in and found this. What happened? I was there yesterday picking up a young shepherd mix, but no one said anything about her and I asked if there were any that we should be concerned about. This is my first chance to read the forum today and now it looks like we're too late.

I don't think they always think to tell us about the oldies, unless we have a record for taking them... Just too many animals for what little staff they have, I think some of them just get overlooked no matter how hard everyone tries.

Agreed, it's a horrific job and they really do the best they can. Last week we missed picking up a dog by minutes -- one of the staff asked if we would take him when we were there picking up another dog, but before she could get back to the room he was gone!

I told hubby tonight that if we weren't leaving on vacation next week, I would have grabbed her. We just lost a 14 year old dog so I'm not sure I could do that again, but I am keeping my eyes open for when we get back and after the grandkids visit, which will be after September 4th.
