ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced the appointment of Alexandra (Ali) Keane to serve as a deputy chief of staff in the Office of the Governor for labor, health, education, and human services.

Keane will succeed Diane Croghan, who is departing the administration to serve as vice president of community engagement and chief of staff for the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, a member hospital of the University of Maryland Medical System.

“Ali has been a valued member of our administration since day one, and I have the utmost confidence that she will continue to be an incredible asset in this new position,” said Governor Hogan. “I want to thank Diane for her dedicated service to our state, particularly over the past year as she played a leading role in our statewide response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Serving the Hogan administration has been the honor of a lifetime, and I want to thank the governor for this exciting opportunity,” said Keane. “I look forward to continuing our work of changing Maryland for the better.”

Ali Keane, an Anne Arundel County native, currently serves as the deputy legislative officer in the Governor’s Legislative Office, where she oversees legislative matters involving the Maryland State Department of Education, the University System of Maryland, the Maryland Higher Education Commission, the Maryland Department of Budget and Management, the Maryland Department of Commerce, the Maryland Department of Labor, and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. Prior to serving as the deputy legislative officer, Keane served the Hogan administration as a special assistant to the deputy chief of staff and as a legislative aide in the Governor’s Legislative Office. Keane is a graduate of Towson University.

Keane’s appointment is effective June 21.
