Charles Co. Graduation schedules, changes in traffic near Convocation Center

The Graduation ceremonies for the Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) Class of 2019 are May 30-31 and June 1 at the Charles County Convocation Center located at North Point High School. The following is a schedule of ceremonies.

May 30

  • North Point High School, 7 p.m.

May 31

  • St. Charles High School, 9 a.m.
  • La Plata High School, 2 p.m.
  • Thomas Stone High School, 7 p.m.

June 1

  • Westlake High School, 9 a.m.
  • Henry E. Lackey High School, 2 p.m.
  • Maurice J. McDonough High School, 7 p.m.

All guests attending graduation must have a ticket to attend and should plan ahead for heavy traffic on and around the North Point campus. The Convocation Center parking lots and doors open two hours before each graduation. Police will direct anyone arriving prior to the opening of parking lots to the overflow lots, which are further away from the school.

Staff will close the doors to the Convocation Center 15 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony. Guests arriving after the doors close are not guaranteed access to the Convocation Center and may be directed to auxiliary seating areas. No guests will be seated during the processional.

Guests attending graduation ceremonies will be directed by police to exit the Convocation Center area as follows.

Guests parked on the North Point side of the campus will be directed north on to Davis Road, then on to Bunker Hill Road and sent northbound on Berry Hill Road (Route 228). Guests who park in lots located at Theodore G. Davis Middle School will be directed to exit south on Davis Road, then on to Mill Hill Road and sent northbound on Berry Hill Road. All traffic will be sent northbound on Berry Hill Road.
