Graduation

Went to GMHS graduation at St. Marys College last night. Why is it that some families act so crazy when their kids name is called? Screaming and hooting like they just hit the powerball. I'm all for being proud and supporting your kid but some folks get carried away. Some old guy even had a damn cowbell he kept beating on. Heard a few air horns too.

I think I may have sustained some hearing loss.

Maybe those kids are the first in their family to actually graduate high school.

It has been like that at every graduation that I've EVER been to. Sorry, I just do not see a problem with it. It is an accomplishment and a moment to be proud of. Should everyone golf clap as their kids graduate?

certainly a show of pride is to be excepted and acceptable. some families take it a bit too far though, if the next family cant even hear their kid's name because you are still carrying on, you have robbed them of their moment of pride in their child.

Not a golf clap. Nothing wrong with cheering and such but some of these folks were overboard. I was there last night as well and it got to the put where we couldn't even heard the next name being announced. As far as the cow bell, I wanted to take it from them and throw it outside. Same goes for the air horn.

It actually says in the program, "As a courtesy to others please hold your applause until the last diploma has been presented". Obviously, that's not going to happen but they could at least show a little restraint.

With all that there is in the world to bitch about, I just cannot believe that someone is bitching about parents cheering to loudly as their child graduates. Sorry, but :lmao:.

Cow bells and air horns shouldn't be allowed inside and there should be a sign (several signs with very large print) that says if any are snuck inside they will be escorted out....and that should be enforced. Seriously, I completely get cheering for your child but like terbear1225 said, if you can't hear the next persons name called then that person was robbed of their moment.

Let's hope one of your 17 children, hehe, isn't robbed of their graduating moment by ol blow horn two rows up :yay:

I am failing to see how noise will rob me of seeing my child graduate. I won't need to hear their name. I'll see them.

Every kid should get the same consideration. Either nobody cheers till the end or they pause after every name and wait for the cheering to stop.

Exactly. If 'they' (the noise makers) weren't able to hear their son/daughters name called I'm sure all hell would break loose. Fair's fair :yay:

I'll be sure to not sit next to you as I'm ringing my cowbell, blaring my air horn, and squeaking my clown horn. :huggy:

Good, because I'm not afraid to cause a scene

Don't worry Socki will probably screw it up by ringing the air horn, blaring the cowbell and blowing the clown. :buddies:
