Avant-Garde Carpet & Floors
They came and installed the carpet and did an awesome job. The guy uses a independent contractor to install the carpet, but they did a great job. I'm no carpet guy, but the work appears to be good. Honestly, I was a little skeptical in the beginning b/c of the good price. My experience has been that you get what you pay for, but the carpet is by Mohawk and it's 100% nylon, which doesn't shed like polyester. You get the 6# pad and installation. I asked for haul-away and it was included as well. The guys who did the job were patient and allowed me to clean the floors(I'm a PITA) before they put the new carpet/pad in. The rooms were 12x16 and 12x17 and I also had a 4x4 landing. I ended up buying a 12x16 roll and a 12x21 roll. This comes out to 444 sq. ft. I paid(taxes incl.) $982.00 which comes out to about $2.21/ sq. ft. He was able to install it in about 5 days from the time we ordered it. Most other places, with the exception of Empire, said it would take 2-3 weeks.
He is located on Post Office Rd. in Waldorf, across from the Post Office. The guy I dealt with was named Glenn. I think they will be moving across from B.J.'s soon. BTW, Empire quoted us at $1900.00 for the job. That was including all their discounts. Their original price was $2900.00 before the discounts. They also called back about 3 days later and said that it would be possible to get a lower price on the carpet, something like $1500.00, but that was the best they could do. They offered me some cheaper(builder grade) carpet for like $1100.00. Good luck...
