I've done some research to find out if they were really that bad or if the movie was just dramatized for effect. Seems as if they were even worse then the movie made them out to be.

I was shocked after watching this movie as I went to Catholic schools. The shame and abuse that these girls endured is just unimaginable and the fact that these "homes" were still in operation in 1996.
