I am also some what emotional today, my grandmother is sick...she lives in South Carolina and I have not been able to see her almost 3 yrs now...we have a trip planned January over the Martin Luther King Hoilday and since the kids have off the 20th now, that will give us 2 driving days and 2 visiting days...it's about an 8hr drive...
:huggy:
Just think of how appreciative I'd have been if you'd given me a quarter.
I just happen to have a quarter here

 Oh good lord... here we go again. "Hey Everyone! Calling all Hens! Kris made another comment that we're gonna take and just run with, and just beat her to death with it ad nausem! No, I haven't got anything better to do! Did you hear what she said? She was explaining something and we automatically assumed she did it too, even though if we knew her we'd know that she'd never do something completely horrid as that... but no matter... jump on her, pound her in to the ground... maybe this time we'll get her to go :SLAM: and it'll be the happiest Petezaa of them all!"

:roflmao: Alright, carry on.
At least Black-Francis spared you!

They are happy that they send them anything.. but you know how kids are and it is very hard when your children look at you and ask if grandma and grandpa forgot about them now that they live out in Maryland.

:yeahthat:
Make a joke about snail-mail? Geez that mail system is SLOW! They send it on Xmas and it doesn't get here for a month!

As far as the In Laws being slow in sending out their gifts...just tell the kids...grandma & Grandpa are a little slow....forgive them...you will get your gifts in a few weeks from now from them...that is what I would do....

I think those handwritten notes and homemade gifts are the best. They are treasures you can never let go of.

Let's not forget the reason for the season. Celebrate LIFE.
My grandmother hand made me a pillow when I was a baby that had my name stitched on it. I still have and cherish it. She's made each one of my kids quilts for their beds. Each one is unique and gorgeous.

My mom made a quilt for both my sister and me. I hang mine on the wall just to show it's beauty. That's all I need. I love having a piece of her that I know I can always cherish.

We're taking one or two outfits from every year of Rowan's life to make him a quilt for when he's 18

He won't appreciate it. Dudes don't appreciate that stuff until they're much older. He'll spill beer on it, get grease and skeet stains on it, and probably put cig burns in it. Wait until he is much older to give it to him.

:lmao: God I hope not... but you do bring up a valid point  I know my best friend got one when he was 18 and it meant a lot to him... but he's the gay so that might have something to do with it.

that might be ok now, but he's gonna #####slap u when he becomes a teenager. I wore mostly the same stuff in middle and high school. If my mom stole some of my outfits I'd have kicked her butt! Friggin stealin my clothes and forcing me to buy new stuff each year
