Fireworks don't freak her out. She'll bark at them if they're especially loud but not ongoing obnoxious barking, just letting them know they better watch it.

She's come a LONG way from that puppy I wanted to :strangle: She still has some greeting issues - she'll be civilized on approach, but the second she gets attention she goes into :starcat: LOOK AT MEEEE! mode. But I was so proud of her! My neighbor called yesterday and said that her houseguests remarked on how well behaved Gretel was when I saw them out walking. I replied, "Did you laugh out loud?" :jet: But she *was* well behaved ❤️

I waiting 2 1/2 years after the loss of my last two before breaking down and getting two more. The void left behind when we lose them is big.

I looked at them yesterday and told them when they are gone there will be NO MORE. My son happened to be there, and he did a doubletake then pointed and laughed at me. He knows better.

I did something similar after losing my border collie in the 90s. Had her for 13 years. We ran together through country lakes every morning. She went everywhere I did on the weekends when running my errands.

They leave a big hole when they go.

When Gretel goes I'll be in my mid-late 70s, so she's most likely my last pup. I'd hate to have my dog outlive me and have to be rehomed.

We took in two cats when their people died. At first it was an irritation, mostly because they were foisted on us, but I came to love them.

He is gone now, but she's hanging in there.

I'll do it again, but I'll have my mind ready for it next time, so I can love from the begining.

Our Golden has been gone a yer now, and I starting to want another one. It won't be while we're still here in SMC, but probably soon after moving once we figure out the fence situation.

It was about 6 months before I was ready to start looking again. Found her 2 months later. She is the polar opposite personality-wise of my last dog, although very similar in looks.

I swore I'd never have another dog, but she came in a package deal. I NEVER thought another feline would rule my life, but that was in the deal as well. My fiancé was well on the way to being a cat lady when we discovered our fate. Three cats at her place that had to always be separated wasn't fair to the cats, so now I've got this thing.

We had a Tortie for years.
She was a real bitch in her younger years, but she became an awesome cat when she got older.
Did you know that 99.9% of Torties are female?

Ours is still young, but she's starting to come around.

This thing is supposed to be a tortie and calico mix. I've been told they're nasty, but I've never had a problem with her, and I don't like cats. Her name is Sweetie and it fits. Go figure.
