PATNA, India - Villagers at a wedding in eastern India decided the groom had arrived too drunk to get married, and so the bride married the groom's more sober brother instead, police said Monday.

Sounds like it was an arranged marriage anyway. Bride and groom had probably not even met before the ceremony. As far as she was concerned, she to married, which is what the parents wanted.

The younger brother readily agreed to take the groom's place beside the teenage bride at her family's invitation, witnesses said.

Maybe that is the reason he was happy to step in.

:yay: In Britain King Edward VII (1901-10) had his first born arrainged to marry Princess May of Teck (I think her real name was Mary but they called her May) and that Prince of Whales died in an accident so his younger brother then Duke of York and Later King George V, went and married his then dead older brother's fiance and King George (1910-35) had a long and said happy marriage to Queen May.

Stuff happens. :flowers:
