Ok "Employee Pricing" has become the annoying buzz word of 2005. Tiger Direct, online computer store is now having an "employee price" sale. I hope this sales gimmick just goes away.

Sales and discounts are always a bad thing

staring into the abyss
GM started the trend, and they were actually being somewhat honest about the prices. They couldn't compete and took a desperate move to get publicity and people into showrooms. They are losing money on most sales, hoping to make it up in financing deals and "premium" car sales. Note that the high-end sports cars and big trucks don't make the list of discounted sales.

Ford had to pick up the trend to compete, and boom:new sales buzz-word. There's certainly no rule/reg on using the term to mean what it implies.

The thing is if you are shrewd enough you could have gotten a car for that "employee price" or even less than it before they had that sale.

Imagine this Daves widgets advertises "employee pricing" but their employees don't get a discount any time LOL, the public still falls for it.

Just the other day I heard Employee Pricing for matresses.

When all this got started I heard some analist saying it was just a clever way to raise prices. Figures!

GM had to do something. Last I heard Harley-Davidson was worth more than GM!

Also the fact exist that if all these car manufacturers are offering "employee discounts" in one form or another, dont you think that they would have been able to sell their products at these prices all along?
