Guess how many workers UPS just laid off in the best economy ever?

UPS laying off 12,000 workers is huge. When massive delivery and logistics companies start trimming the fat, it's a sign of the wider economy's health.

Or maybe… paying well into 6 figure salaries to uneducated drivers to drive packages around isn’t a great business model. Just spitballing here.

Yay Teamsters!

I've been a Teamster; also, UAW (aerospace) and IAM (machinists and aerospace). While I made a good wage as a skilled laborer, I never made six figures. #sad

In fact, I never made over $20.00 an hour as a blue collar.

As a white collar, yeah; low six figures. Eight years of college was not completely wasted.

UPS are the largest employers of Teamsters in the nation. Perhaps the Union at your employers didn’t the have the clout they do at UPS.

If they are keeping the union people and making them work more, I can see a strike over health & safety reasons coming.

The Teamsters are solely responsible for the high cost of labor for UPS and it was a new union contract which precipitated this.
Gee, and here I thought it was Amazon starting their own delivery service in many parts of the country in the last couple of years.

Sure, that’s a contributing factor as well as the USPS newish Ground Select service or whatever it’s called.

UPS’s selling point is not low cost service. It’s value.
