...I meant to post the story about what Bloomburg and NYC did to invite this.
I can't find the link just now, but, here's how it went;
Bloomie sent NY detectives to VA to set up 'straw man' purchases to prove that VA is at fault for guns getting into NYC, which is, of course, impossible in the first place because guns are so severely restricted in NYC.
So, anyway, the detectives would go in, two at a time, to pick out a gun. Person 1, female, would submit to the background check and pay for the weapon. Person two, 'hubby', who was standing there all along saying 'honey, I like this one' would come back later when the background check was complete and pick up the weapon. Thus, the lawsuits against the shops.
Viola. New York contends this happened at least 20 some odd times in the last year or two.
Now, I can see that NYC, being so damn near helpless and such a tiny, backwater place to begin with, would have such a terrible time with a crime
wave such as this. But, this is what I would like to see;
Virginia detectives go to NYC and one person goes up to a drug dealer and pays for some product and the person with them takes possession.
I'd be curious how often stolen goods and drugs are purchased in NYC and find their way into the Commonwealth.
Might be interesting.
