The Raw Story | Dog shoots, kills Texas hunter

An overexcited dog accidentally shot and killed its owner on a goose hunting trip in Texas, authorities said Tuesday.
Perry Price, 46, had just shot a goose and went back to his pickup truck to let his dog out to go find it in the brush.
He leaned over the bed of the truck and lay his shotgun down inside as he unhooked the tailgate, his hunting companion told investigators.
"When the dog got to jumping around it went off," deputy Nacheal Bonin of the Chambers County Sheriff's Department told AFP.
The shotgun pellets went through the truck's tailgate and struck Price, a high school teacher and avid hunter, in the thigh.
His friend rushed Price to a hospital just a few miles away but the pellets had severed an artery and Price could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at 6:20 pm on Saturday.

But could you imagine having to explain an accidental shooting by your dog?

Let me give you an example. :tap:

When my husband was a rookie cop, he would commonly leave his gun on the shelf on the back of our headboard. One day, he woke up and our puppy was chewing the trigger guard to his gun and it was pointing at his head.

 So P, how did your husband die? Ahhhh dog shot him. :eyebrow:

No, he didn't and I could have pistol whipped him when he told me, but he ended up having to explain why his service weapon had teeth marks all over it to his commander. That right there was punishment enough without me saying one more word about it.

Of course this was a LONG time ago.... '91 and like I said, we had no children at the time. He was sleeping during the day after night shift and I was working, so he was the only one home putting himself in a position to be almost shot by the dog.
