guns in trunk

A friend of mine collects guns, mostly old ones. He likes to come to my house and try them out as he lives in the city. I just worry about him getting pulled over with them in his car. He went to weekend jail some years back for a DUI. Don't know if that makes any difference. Question is, is it OK to drive with guns in a car?

Q. Can I legally transport firearms interstate?
A. Yes, under Title 18, Section 926A, of the United States Code, a person
who is not prohibited from possessing, transporting, shipping, or receiving
a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose
from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to
any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during
such transportation the firearm is unloaded, neither the firearm nor any
ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible
from the passenger compartment. In the case the vehicle does not have a
compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or
ammunition shall be contained in a locked compartment other than the
glove compartment or console.

I assume you are speaking of handguns. Maryland law excepts from the prohibition that
the wearing, carrying, or transporting by a person of a handgun used in connection with an organized military activity, a target shoot, formal or informal target practice, sport shooting event, hunting, a Department of Natural Resources-sponsored firearms and hunter safety class, trapping, or a dog obedience training class or show, while the person is engaged in, on the way to, or returning from that activity if each handgun is unloaded and carried in an enclosed case or an enclosed holster;

Make sure you tell your friend the "REST OF THE STORY" and what we are all exposed to. This is not going to stop until we get the criminals running this government out of power.

I wonder if it's OK to talk in the car, state to state? Or think? I wonder about various bumper sticker rules?

It's amazing all the stupid gun laws that they can make for the honest citizen to abide by because we are the only ones that will. The criminal can do whatever he/she pleases with a gun and when caught, gets a slap on the wrist. I just found out about a new law...well, new to me. If I pick up a new gun that I ordered from a FFL, I have to have a locking cable through the barrel just to pick it up.
Of course if I were to shoot someone that broke into my home with said gun, they would put my ass in jail so fast it would make my head spin. Then the relatives of the one I shot would take me to court and sue my ass for shooting little johnny when he broke into my home. Gun laws are made to protect the criminal.

Not weird. Price and availability are the issues, I would imagine. Go to Gunbroker.com, for example, and compare prices with retail.

What's weird are the f'ed up firearms laws here in MD.

I would say that Maryland firearms laws are some of the most strict and worst in the country.

A farmer's barn was continually getting broke in to and items was being stolen. So The farmer knew they were coming thru the back barn doors. He rigged a shot gun to take them out at the knees. Which it did, the thief sued the farmer in court and ended up owning the farm.

I'm sure you have a point here beyond some unprovable anecdote that may actually pertain to this post. What it may be escapes me.

But here's a better story, using your amazingly bad grammar, punctuation and syntax:
A farmer's barn was continually getting broke in to and items was being stolen. So The farmer knew they were coming through the back barn doors. He rigged a shot gun to take them out at the cajones. Which it did, the thief was buried back in the woods and was never a problem again.

If he has more than one gun in his car it's a cache..

And if he's a White Anglo Saxon he's a terrorist threat, and a threat to our national security..

They'll go into his home after they arrest him, and tell the media, and show them the pictures of his arsenal of airsoft automatic weapons, and enough ammo (anything more than ten rounds) to take on an entire city police force.

The public will be so thankful for the policeman's vigilance for protecting us from this villian and threat to the American way of life.

Living in this part of MD or MD as a whole it is not weird. Most of my guns have been bought online and then transferred here. Prices are better and with the very limited selection of firearm dealers with inventory in SOMD it is the best solution.
