The threads that bash the PO's for using their cars off duty and "costing the taxpayers money" are really getting old. They are doing a service, on or off duty, as in the military, the are ON DUTY 24/7. When the call comes and they are near, they respond. I salute them! Now, when they do break the laws they are sworn to uphold, I have issues. (Recent incident in St. James area). But as in the military, there are some bad apples. The supervisors have to weed them out, that is why they are in charge. Standing by for the flaming............

Did you know?
165 officers die in the line of duty annually

1 officer is killed every 54 hours

61,000 officers are assaulted annually

189 officers are assaulted every day

19,000 officers are injured in those assaults

2 officers are shot every day

Because They Serve, They Deserve!

Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day

Does it really matter?
I totally agree; if I had to put myself in that kind of danger, and still make a living within that salary range, I too would feel that I deserve to use my squad on or off duty....

That means over sixty eight thousand police officers are assaulted annually, and ninteen thousand are injured as a result of those assaults.

Can you make those people from some supposedly Maryland Police Officer's Association, calling from 419-474-9385 quit calling my house? We've had at least 15 calls from them. Figure out who they are. I don't think they are legit. TIA.

I don't know who they are? I haven't received any calls. Call the Sheriff's Office if you don't think they are legit and they will check them out.

Will do. A lot of people on here have received calls from them.

Well, wait, YOU check them out. You have more resources than me.

It was not bashing...If I had stated all polce officers are war mongerers or some other assanine statement that would have been different. I appreciate your service as well as my own 21 years of service and that of my brethren.

Do not attempt to dignify yourself by manipulation of verbiage in a thread intended to seek opinion.

I have been and continue to be an upstanding member of our community and support the duties of our sworn officials. That I post an opinion here does not indicate my desire to bash. Nuff said...leave it alone!

Try the Maryland Sheriff association, tell them at this helpful phone number from their web site:

"We thank you for your support, and if you have any other questions or concerns, please call the Association office in Annapolis at 410-269-4238".

It really is a shame, that on the day our nation honors those police officers who gave the ultimate sacrafice, this thread gets two pages, but another thread which talks about a police officer in a negative light gets six pages?

As far as being a police officer goes, all give some, and some give all! This of course goes for our military, and other first responders.

By listening to the scanner tonight and last night, they definitely earn their pay and more. I can't believe the stuff they put up with. Kudos to the Sheriff's Department. They are working their butts off tonight!

Well If They Were Not Such An Arrogant Self Serving Protected Class ..... i can break the law you cannot, bunch of a$$holes ..... there might not be so many threads pointing out this fact ......:elaine:

Like I am sure that DC Police Officer Driver the DC Police Car, going south on 301 last sun @ 70 Mph was on a call .......... ah huh, yeah right ....

protected class ... can do as they pleaze ..... enforcement of laws starts with those charged with enforcing them ...

the only time police are interested in enforcing traffic laws, is when they need to fill their quota, other wise they are the fastest speeders, weaving in and out of traffic ... grossly exceeding the posted limit ....

so GFU ......
