What does "comprehensive immigration reform" mean, anyway?

It has such a sound, grown-up, almost erudite sound to it. We need to fix it from the ground up!
It sounds like "really expensive open door policy for all who come, especially those who will vote Democrat" - to Democrats.
It sounds like "we need to address better who we let in and who we don't" - to Republicans.

When they DISCUSS the term - it's clear they don't mean the same thing.

I means that there will be, officially, no enforcement of immigration law. All immigration laws will simply be ignored. And instead, feelings will be their guiding principle.

Haiti is always in turmoil, but the latest round of unrest has been broiling for about six years.

Haiti is an odd example of how not to run a country. The island of Hispaniola is split between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The DR is among the most prosperous nations in the Caribbean and in the Western Hemisphere - and Haiti is one of the world's poorest nations. You can see the dividing line between the two - one side is barren and denuded - the other is lush and green.

One cannot make the excuse of natural resources - it's the same damned island, with the same opportunity for tourism, beaches and the like.
But Haiti is a shthole.
