The game starts out when they find master chief laying on the ground after he jumped out of the ship. The marines come and find the chief then get him ready to fight. The first map is set in the jungle and your mission is to find the sergeant that has been captured by the Brutes.
So what happens with the Forerunner ship? Did the covenant engage it, or did the humans get it, and are now studying it.... No - don't answer... I don't want to know too much yet.
MAN!! I can't wait.
Is the gameplay significantly different? I know that switching weapons and reload buttons are changed, and I think I heard you need to push a button to pick up dropped items such as ammo, instead of just running over them.
How much getting used to a new input system does it take?

I am up to the 5th level so far. There are a bunch of new weapons and vehicles. You can now use the brute hammer. The controlls are a little bit different with the reloading and picking up weapons. You also have deployable objects such as portable shield, trip mine, power drainer.
I didn't know about the brute hammer. Thats ####ing COOL!!! I've also seen a long chain-gun weapon which looks like it requires 2 hands and makes the view 3rd person - like when you're in a vehicle. I also read about the shields and tripmines, but I never heard of a power drainer... what's that? Does it suck enemies dry or disable their vehicles/weapons or something?
GOD! I can't wait to climb into a warthog or ghost and just SMASH SOME #### UP!!!
One last little question, which isn't a spoiler... is the entire game (at least up to where you are) on or around earth, or do we go to another Halo installation? How much does the flood figure into the game early on?
