Happy Dragon in Leonardtown

My family and I were eating in Happy Dragon tonight an I observed a SWARM of roaches on the filter above the fish tank. It is unfortunate I won't be able to eat there again because they have delicious General Tso's Chicken.

Did you alert the owners? :barf:

With 27 restaurants in Leonardtown these days competing with one another, and all the modern technology at your fingertips 24/7, we're gonna need to see some roach pictures.

IT's ALL RED
What's unfortunate is that you actually saw it.

All ... and I mean ALL restaurants have roaches and/or mice. There is no way around it. It's just to what "extent".

I used to work in a building that used to be an old pizza restaurant (one of the better ones) and 5 years later it still had an occasional roach or critter.

Heck, I don't even want to think about the grocery stores.

I used to work in the restaurant business (Bert's) and one rule ol' Bert always had was to never, ever, bring cardboard boxes into the building. The roaches lay their eggs in the glue that holds them together he said.

I can only remember ever seeing one roach in all the years I worked there.

I appreciate the scepticism, but search the forums. Apparently this isn't an isolated incident. Additionally, although I did work in food service a decade ago in high school and Leonardtown is a booming metropolis, overflowing with dining options, as you note, I hold no interest in any restaurant. In any event, the roaches are photo ready crawling in and out of the filter on top of the fish tank.

Actually, I believe you. I was just being a typical forum butt. To date our local dining trophies consist of a very long hair in a burger at Outback. A large, black water-bug in the coffee carafe at IHOP. And a roach in the straw of a Coke at Bon-Buffet.

Yeah, I worked at a couple restaurants in the Mechanicsville area a while back and never saw a roach. Although I'm sure there were some at the old Halfway House, they just kept to themselves and I didn't go looking for them. I was just shocked at the number I saw on the fish tank in the dining room area. Makes me wonder how many there are in other moist areas with food in the restaurant. Might not be any better at other restaurants and I guess it is better than a band-aid or fingernail in my food, but I don't want to see them.

Happy Dragon was my first tax paying job. That was almost 16 years ago and the place wasn't all that clean then so I believe all of this.

Back when I worked at solomons pier I had a boss that was an absolute cleaning nazi. I never saw a roach there ever, you could literally eat off of the floor. The food was terrible but it was definitely sanitary. So not every restaurant has roaches...
