Happy Groundhog Day....
The only holiday dedicated to an animal.

The male groundhog is the one who pops his head out..and it is not to see its shadow..it is to start sniffing around looking for females in heat.
It is not about how many more weeks till spring, but how many females he can locate before the next male comes along.

The female groundhog sleeps in a bit longer, knowing that there is a poor food supply this time of year. She needs to conserve her body fat to be able to maintain a pregnancy until the food supply is stable.

Male woodchucks are the early risers of winter, driven out of hibernation by their desire to mate. Females, on the other hand, hang around their dens and wait for gentlemen callers.

If you see a groundhog sticking its head out..it is not about the weather...but wheather or not he can score with the ladies and make some babies before the next male comes along...

Happy Groundhog Day!!:howdy:

It's official

Phil Says Six More Weeks of Winter!
Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/08 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:

Here Ye! Here Ye! Here Ye!

On Gobbler's Knob on this fabolous Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2008
Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators,
Rose to the call of President Bill Cooper and greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths.

After casting a weathered eye toward thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil consulted with President Cooper and directed him to the appropriate scroll, which proclaimed:

"As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me.
Six more weeks of winter it will be!"

When did winter start?

I was supposed to go skiing and had to change plans because slopes were closed because it was too warm. I'm supposed to go this weekend and it's supposed to be in the 50's all week?

(not that I'm complaining, I hate the winter :lmao:)

I love Phil, but couldn't the little booger have been a little blind this morning? :lmao: I haven't seen any bluebirds, but the robins have not gone away all year. They're still here! Anyway, it's all good! Spring will be here soon enough! Can't wait!! :yahoo:
