Happy New Year, ya'all

happy to be living
So it is just by chance that I am awake at this hour since I don't normally celebrate in the tradition of ringing in the new year. It has always been a changing of the calendar. Wake up on the first of the new year and have to adjust writing a different year on checks and correspondence (yeah, I still write checks)

My Dad, 90, died last night. Not looking for sympathy; I loved him dearly but he has been in poor health and ready to go to the great beyond for several years. I am convinced he is in a better place now. Pain free. Drama free.

Of course, the a$$holes in the family cannot be kind. My step Mom is incredible and yet it is a perfect time for those that think they are superior to trash her. I do have bail money for my trip to NY in the near future. I will need it.

I hope the new year brings good things to us all. This last year has been a complete $hit show and I am so ready to leave it behind like a stinky fart in the aisle of a chain store.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your father, MB. It brings it home when we lose a parent. Both of mine are with the Lord. This has been a hard time for you. Closing your biz, and all. I wish you the best in the new year. :huggy:

My condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father. Whether it was anticipated for years or not, I cannot imagine that it's any easier to cope. Hopefully you won't need bail $$ for NYS because of ******* (probably be censored. It was, lol. But it's a body part) relatives. We all know that people come out of the woodwork when they believe that they might be "entitled" to something. Family is the worst. Hang in there, 2021 is only 365 more days, we got this.

First, FF I'm sorry for your loss. I know it's cliché, but let me know if there's anything you need. :huggy:

Second, I'd like to wish a Happy New Year to all who have endured the hell we call 2020 and hope and pray the world returns to some kind of normalcy in 2021.

:huggy: Happy New Year, @frequentflier . I know your step mom will appreciate your visit up there, and your support. Death brings out the terrible worst in the dysfunctional peeps, it seems.

Happy New Year my SOMD fellow forumites!

Looking forward to 2021 as I do any new year, this one a little more since 2020 was such a PITA.

BUT!! I can't say 2020 was a complete waste, because it wasn't. After a bumpy personal start, (and the support of some of the very best friends a girl could have!) I was able to gain my footing in the midst of a freaking worldwide pandemic. That was no small feat, as there were so many roadblocks: don't do that, can't do this, stand here, don't stand there, walk here, don't dance. Well, figuratively speaking - I learned to dance again. I guess you could say Bann got her groove thing back. :jet: What a year it's been!

And, hey 2021 - just so's ya know: - I am not going to take the overreach of the government sitting down. I've always had the heart and drive of an advocate and I will direct my energies into standing up for my/our rights as citizens to pursue happiness. There will be dancing involved!! :bann:

It has lots of buttons. I figured out some of them, but at the commissary yesterday I didn't know how to open the trunk and had to wave down a kid who looked at me like I was deranged. It also has Sattelite satalite satellite (alright I got it :high5:) radio - WTH is up with that - I get sports, CNN, and Cspan and that's about it. And I couldn't figure out how to adjust the mirrors - that was a little distracting while driving until I saw an L and a R. Oh - so that's why the driver's side mirror won't adjust.

I'm very excited. Oh the places I'll go. Without worrying.
Satellite radio probably needs a subscription. (Sirius XM?) If it's a new-new car, there's probably a free period. I'm guessing here - so don't quote me.

In case you like 70's music, I THINK the 70's channel on my Sirius XM radio is X7. I turn the dial from there up or down, depending on what decade I want to listen to. :jet:
