Power with Control
Motorcycle headlights no worky - Disassemble starter switch, clean contacts and protect with dielectric grease. All good now. Cost = $0

Old Gateway laptop second power supply, given to me by the fine folks at SMARTCO gave it up a month. - Noticed power supply from dead Sony Vaio all in one had the right power specs, but the plug wouldnt fit. Opened both power supplies up, desoldered stock one from Vaio, soldered on one from bad power supply. Gateway now back in operation. Cost = $0

32 inch 4 year old Philips 32 inch LCD that lives in sunroom wouldn't power on - Got meter, checked power cable, got 115v. Popped back off of TV, traced power leads, happily found a fuse. Pulled it, checked it, infinite resistance. Tomorrow will get new fuse.

Oh, and taught the girl to do her plugs and wires and distributor cap.

Infinite resistance means that I got no numerical resistance reading, it's open, fuse is blown.

Learned that I have a natural knack for it:)

1. Is the damned thing plugged in?

2. Is the power switch in the ON position?

3. Check the moving parts first.

I am saddened that both the automotive and aviation worlds have decided that parts swapping monkeys are a better financial move instead of technicians trained in system theory and real world troubleshooting.
