Hard drive just went kaputz

So, now, I have to go out and buy a new hard drive as the only other one I have that is useable is an 8GB Maxtor. I wipe my azz with 8GB. Further problems are: I can't find my Windows XP CD so I have to get Vista, seeing as I do not want to deal with the aggravation of installing XP.

Tell me your plan. Should I install a Linux OS that isn't compatible with my motherboard or most of my hardware?

Should I buy a copy of XP and spend days reinstalling all my software, patches for NSR2005, or should I put an OS that works with all my hardware and won't take forever and a half to install?

Then again, I don't expect you have an answer seeing as your too chicken#### to sign your name to your karma.

Some places STILL sell WinXP.....Saw some at Office Depot...and can get online..
Sure someone here has a copy you can borrow.....

If Vista is easier, guess you answered your own question. Good luck!! I had to do that and gave up, bought a new PC adn spent ages reinstalling so much software..ARGH!!!

Would rather have a root canal than have to reformat and reinstall stuff.

I'll probably do Vista, but I just found out NSR2005 is incompatible with Vista and EA Sports refuses to release a new NASCAR PC-DVD game (or NASCAR 08 for Wii), because they're ####ing azzpirates! :

Found an old Hard Drive Recovery CD...

... ran it, fixed my 40GB, but now my wireless card is broke.
