Routinely Derailed
Under the holly tree and right up against my driveway, here are two of the three large, deep rabbit holes my furry little friends dug. The third hole is under the cinder block at the upper left corner of the picture. The holes are deep enough to go up to my thigh, as I found out with the one under the cinder block by accidentally stepping right into it last fall.
These are rabbits which look like the kind people buy and raise in crates. They are very big, as big as a small cat. There are 7 of them in the area, appearing over the past year or so. I don't know where the many wild species live, but I'm pretty certain these holes belong to the big guys, who I (apparently mistakenly) believed were living under my front porch last winter.
