I’ve got kids who “freezer” shop....they know to leave the ribeyes and porterhouses alone...
 I had to clean out my dad's freezer in VA after we moved him to AR. There were some really nice cuts in there. Should say, they used to be nice. Wound up throwing away everything that he didn't properly prepare for the freezer and was in there since 2005. He'd buy stuff with good intentions and never use it. Such a waste.

 What we do for our kids is amazing, and I hope they pass it on. As far as HT, I have never been in one, and from what is being said here, I never will. There are 4 groceries in a very condensed space in Olney where I live now...Giant, Safeway, Shoppers, and HT. Giant is my go to; just as it was when we lived in Calvert.

The Sushi was excellent. The chicken wing bar was sold out for the Super Bowl crowd, but the Asian food bar was about the same as any Chinese buffet but much more expensive, you pay by the weight of the food. If the Panda Express ever opens next door, I expect the Asian Bar won't do well at Teeter. Otherwise, HT is awesome! Lots of deals. The Pizza counter, salad bar and deli were all very busy.

Anyone who has signed up for a VIC Card, do they actually check your ID to see if you are giving the correct information?

Anybody have an input on the meats? Ground beef? Is it ground in-store or received frozen and thawed like most other stores?
This HT is bigger than the ones I was in 20 years ago, almost as big as the Kroger that I worked in. There is no way that the store will keep this level of staffing though, that is about double the staffing as a store like this would have in the evening during the week.

Their meat selection was excellent and the ground chuck at the counter was very nice especially for $4/lb. I saw chicken that stated "No water added" which is nice considering that water solution also contains sodium. The meat man was friendly and seemed to know what he was doing, at least as much as I did when I did the same thing. The seafood counter is excellent (I also worked seafood back in the day), however I about #### when I saw the price on grouper because I really wanted some but I am not risking my cooking on $18.99/lb fish. The boarshead deli meats seem to be a bit high, Ill stick to BJ's deli counter with Dietz and Watson stuff for about $7.99/lb.

The hot bar and sushi bar look appetizing I didn't look at the soup at the soup bar but they have a pretty good selection there it seemed. The cheese, oh the cheese, more selection than I remember at either HT or Kroger.

The prices seemed pretty inline with Giant and the sales prices were pretty decent. I was disappointed that they did not have the six pack of bottles of diet pepsi advertised buy 2 get 3 free because that made the six packs $2 each.

It is very weird them not selling Beer and Wine, that was the go to place for a great beer and wine selection when I was in college.

Unfortunately - I believe the no beer & wine is a function of local liquor laws. You'll notice the only grocery store left which sells beer & wine is McKays. None of the newer to the area grocery stores have liquor licenses.

The KcKay family's liquor license was grandfathered.

It is correct that grocery stores cannot have liquor licenses here.

The liquor license for the Mckays in Hollywood dates back to the 50's, which is why they can for that store. Before they redid the Hollywood store, they had intended to redo the Wildewood one in the same manner instead. This required a 10 year lease, and they would only sign it if allowed to transfer the liquor license there. The liquor store in the shopping center protested, and they lost...so they stayed in the Hollywood store with the remodel. Even the Hollywood store had protests from places like Chiefs.

This is also why the Leonardtown store has a completely separate liquor store that requires going out and in.

In terms of HT, what makes the store is that section when you walk in with the hot bars, produce, and all the other bits. That is unlike anything down here. The rest of the store is basically a normal grocery store.

LOOK FOLKS, ITS A GROCERY STORE!!! IS ALL OF THIS RELEVANT TO ANYONE? I'll hush now...
The only thing to do in this county is eat. Seriously, I don't mean that as an insult. But really --- this much excitement over another food establishment. They are building one in Dunkirk, also. Most of my neighbors could care less. Here, people are tripping over themselves to check it out. There is no diversity in this county whatsoever. In my neighborhood, my neighbor works at Andrews AFB, my other neighbor works in springfield, VA, one neighbor works for the Coast Guard. Who are your neighbors here? fellow navairians lol.....it would drive me nuts to see my coworkers at work....to see my coworkers at my childrens ball games, school activities....etc. and tripping over themselves to go to the latest food establishment so 28 pages of posts can be written.

I'm so glad I'm not single and living in this county.
