I expect a $13 hot dog to be quality. They had quality at BayDawgz too.

That, right there, is an oxymoron.I expect a $13 hot dog to be quality.
Left Coaster !If I may ...
Peets is the best. My opinion. Make a cup every morning. Rich. Bold. Pick it up at Giant.

but a very limited clientele. Honestly, who thinks of going out to dinner and getting a gourmet hotdog. They had quality at BayDawgz too.
You might be thinking of Mayorga.Left Coaster !
Peets is good, there is a roaster out of... they have a coffee shop in National Harbor - can't think of the name.

Wasn't for the fact that the owners are friends, I know I wouldn't.but a very limited clientele. Honestly, who thinks of going out to dinner and getting a gourmet hotdog.
My guess is the same people who would go to Harris Teeter when they could find the same or like product at 20-50% cheaper about a mile away.Honestly, who thinks of going out to dinner and getting a gourmet hotdog.
Me! But I realized even when they first opened that I was probably in the minority.but a very limited clientele. Honestly, who thinks of going out to dinner and getting a gourmet hotdog.
There are times when I am willing to pay more for the same item at Target rather than pay a little less at Walmart where I have to rub elbows and endure a 15 minute long line with the Great Unwashed Masses (GUM). Other times not, but sometimes. My guess is the same people who would go to Harris Teeter when they could find the same or like product at 20-50% cheaper about a mile away.
I agree however,There are times when I am willing to pay more for the same item at Target rather than pay a little less at Walmart where I have to rub elbows and endure a 15 minute long line with the Great Unwashed Masses (GUM). Other times not, but sometimes.
Same here. I find it more pleasurable to shop in a clean, well-stocked store, and am willing to pay extra for that. Most places, Target is just a more enjoyable experience than WalMart. There are times when I am willing to pay more for the same item at Target rather than pay a little less at Walmart where I have to rub elbows and endure a 15 minute long line with the Great Unwashed Masses (GUM). But, the question is, would you pay even more at Harris Teeter because it is more, more pleasing?Same here. I find it more pleasurable to shop in a clean, well-stocked store, and am willing to pay extra for that. Most places, Target is just a more enjoyable experience than WalMart.
But I know quite a few folks that are not sometimes, but all the time. they simply wont set foot in Wally. And I dont blame them. My tolerance is pretty low, but since I'm a surgical shopper, any trip in there is planned out like the Bin Laden raid, without the whole helicopter crash. I know exactly what I want, where it is, and out the door I go.I agree however,
"but sometimes" does not keep a large-ish grocery store in business.
I'll stick with the history in this area. Since Walmart has super sized, we have lost McKay's, Food Lion (sold), and now Giant is suffering. These weren't even "high retail" groceries. Bottom line is that eventually, people value savings over 'experiences.'But I know quite a few folks that are not sometimes, but all the time. they simply wont set foot in Wally. People also value convenience. There's a reason 7-11 can sell a gallon of milk for a handsome premium over everyone else -- it's convenient.I'll stick with the history in this area. Woodburns stayed open for a good long while, just because they had a good meat market. If HT has that and a decent fish selection they'll make it. these are not people who are going out for an expensive hotdog. My guess is the same people who would go to Harris Teeter when they could find the same or like product at 20-50% cheaper about a mile away.
I know quite a few people who go to Annapolis to hit up Whole foods and then Wegmans on the way back.I agree however,

Thats a great analogy! And, how many 7-11s are around again??People also value convenience. There's a reason 7-11 can sell a gallon of milk for a handsome premium over everyone else -- it's convenient.
I'm not saying these people do not exist. What is it with the people on this forum always going to the extreme??I know quite a few people who go to Annapolis to hit up Whole foods and then Wegmans on the way back.
