Harry Potter star 'carried petrol bomb' | News.com.au
THE British actor who played bully Vincent Crabbe in the Harry Potter movies drank stolen champagne and carried a petrol bomb during the London riots last year, a court was told today.
Jamie Waylett was captured by security cameras on a number of occasions during the August riots in north London, prosecutor Rebekah Hummerstone said, according to UK media reports.
The 22-year-old is facing charges of having an article with intent to destroy or damage property and violent disorder.
Ms Hummerstone said Waylett, who was previously convicted of growing cannabis in 2009, was first seen on camera moments after a gang smashed into a Sainsbury's supermarket late on August 8.
"Moments later, he accepted a bottle of sparkling wine from a friend who is also seen on the footage carrying a number of bottles," she said.
Less than two hours later, Waylett was spotted on CCTV covering his face with his clothing.
"He was picked up by CCTV ... He and other members of his group were carrying petrol bombs," Ms Hummerstone said.
