Their SMECO usage statement for the last 2 weeks? Seems they have stopped sending them out after that debacle with errors in the statements.

NOT errors in the billing mind you (according to what THEY say) but, merely errors in the statements...

Not me, I always thought they were wrong anyway.

For example:

I have a gas furnace and most of my neighbors have heat pumps, in the cold months when those heat pumps run 24/7 their usage statements always showed me in the high use category. 🐂💩

Nope and a few months ago many on social media were telling SMECO to cram those notices up thier backside and save the postage.

They should call their Smart meters dumb meters. After all, how could they charge you more unless they place a new meter on your house that may be designed to over charge you?

Does seem odd that electric costs seemed to skyrocket once they forced their suckage (smart meters) on everyone. Interesting...

We heat with wood so it makes me laugh when they "compare" us to our neighbors in the winter months. We rarely use the heat pump. Though my husband rarely turns off the lights

On the flip side, the smart meter alerted them last year that our electric was off. Before I had the chance to call them, a SMECO truck pulled up and it turned out to be the power feed wires were corroded. They had Miss Utility come out, had a crew with a back hoe and had our electric back on in a few hours.

I might also mention this was on a Saturday.

For years I used to be one of the efficient people according to the graph on my bill. As of late him always above the normal mark every month. I guess those LED bulbs don't do squat after all.

What gets me is, I’ve ALWAYS been WAY at the other end. And we’re pretty good. I can’t figure out where the power goes. It’s still high even when we go on vacation.

This tells me that the power company has little faith in their smart metering, so they err on the "bill em' higher for now" side.

I swear I'm going to trip every breaker in the house except for the freezers one weekend and see if my bill changes

There's a number of good ways to figure out where the draw might be. A Kill-o-watt or equivalent can monitor a single device like a fridge or freezer. I got some plug-in monitors that work really well from Emporia Energy. I have them on every fridge, freezer, lights, etc... and on my boat in AR so I can monitor things from here. They also have a whole-house monitor system. You can also get a clamp meter that clamps on to a wire and gives you an instantaneous surge and wattage usage, I got one from Harbor Freight. Once you can identify the source of the draw, then it can be mitigated. There are a multitude of other products similar, these are just the ones I chose and seem to work really well. The plug-in monitors can also be remotely controlled and timed, so I use them for all my Christmas lights.
