There has been virtually no news coming out of Iraq lately? I did a quick search of several websites (CNN, Fox, MSNBC, AP, Reuters) and, with the exception of the Turkey problem, nothing.

So, in light of the absense of the typical bad news we've come to expect from our media regarding Iraq I thought I'd provide a website aimed at providing us with what the MSM refuses to report to us.

...how things might have been the last 4 years had the adminstration used effective killing force, during a war no less, from day 1.

More good news (on a personal note) I had a friend of mine just return this week safe and sound.:yay: The guy he replaced was killed 2 weeks before he was due to rotate.

I can't believe that the MSM doesn't want to report that the troop surge is working.

...to hear it.

Why would the msm 'want' to report on something they are against? They don't spend much time on reporting citizens using force, especially guns, especially hand guns, in fighting criminals.

Well...

...it's certainly a well rehearsed bit of dialogue.

When the time comes that I expect Republicans to act like Democrats I will change my registration. It's not far off at this point.

I think they are waiting and seeing. After four years of the Bush administration claiming success and improvement just to see a month later it get even worse than before so many times, they are wary and weary.

I did see on CNN or MSNBC last week a story on the casualties though. They said that the non-combat deaths of troops in Iraq is way higher when the deployment of a group goes past 15 months or so without a break. They said that suicides and accidental deaths is higher now than ever before, but made sure to point out that because a larger portion of the troops dying in Iraq are not due to combat and since the number of troops dying has decreased overall on top of this, this means the number of troops being killed due to violence is even lower and this is even more of an indication the surge is starting to work.
The news media has been more than fair to the administration during time of war. The reason it seemed the media was being negative was because there was almost all negative and horrific news coming from Iraq and almost no positive.
In the past years I have seen links to sights run by the defense department filled stories about the number of schools built, or about all the new power plants, but year and year out the stories turned out to be nothing other than fluff pieces. The reality turned out to be the schools and power plants often cost three to TEN times to build than projected, the schools are empty in the capital due to violence, the power plants don't work or just simply aren't working in the capital and even in some of the peacful areas, and as a result the press refuses to be fooled by "optimistic" news out of Iraq again.
Besides, the violence there is so high it is very difficult to verify any good news is not exagerated or legit.

If you want to see just how easy the US media has been on the war in Iraq, watch some European news on the war, or ask someone who has been over in Europe watching their news for a few weeks or so. They don't hold back and they show more of the grewsome pictures I hear.
Wars, sanctions and looting had left Iraq's infrastructure in ruins before the post-conflict insurgency took hold.
Millions of dollars have been pledged and distributed to reconstruction projects across the country. But efforts have been hampered by insurgent attacks and funds diverted to meet rising security costs.

US officials say the total reconstruction bill is likely to spiral well above the $55bn estimated in 2003.

Electricity generation at best meets half of estimated demand and fell below pre-war levels at the end of 2006.

Most of the country lacks effective sanitation. Iraq's Ministry of Water Resources says only 32% of the population has access to clean drinking water, and only 19% has access to a good sewage system.

Aid agencies say 60% of people in Anbar and Baghdad suburbs use river water.
BBC NEWS
Mr Harper told the BBC that Iraqi authorities were increasingly overwhelmed by the problem of internally displaced people - caused not only by violence, but also by social and health problems such as cholera outbreaks. He said local authorities did not have the resources to cope, and that the governors of at least 11 provinces - out of 18 in the country - had reacted by blocking internal migrants from entering their territory, or denying them food and education if they do get in.

"We are seeing an increasing number of governorates closing their borders or restricting entry to new arrivals," he said.

"And so we have a pressure cooker building up inside Iraq - there is no imminent end to the displacement," he added.....

.....The millions of refugees fleeing the violence and turmoil in the country, Mr Harper said, were the biggest challenge facing the UNHCR and the international community.

He said the figures were increasing on average by up to 100,000 every month.

In Diyala province, aid workers have said they have been unable to reach thousands of families, including displaced people, because of the security situation.

The huge displacement of people is cementing the fragmentation of the country, says the BBC's Arab affairs analyst Magdi Abdelhadi, with local authorities ignoring Baghdad by refusing to shelter displaced people.

Maybe once the violence is controlled, the infrastructure can finally be repaired......years after it was supposed to already be done.

Right...

Maybe once the violence is controlled, the infrastructure can finally be repaired......years after it was supposed to already be done.

...right. I've equated our policy of the last 4 years as trying to rebuild the house while it's still burning. One day, someone may avtually use that in the msm and I'll be all to happy to take credit for it. I think it's a perfect analogy.

We have a reading comprehension...

What's taking you so long? They already have and you know it.

...issue here.

I said "When the time comes that I expect Republicans to act like Democrats I will change my registration. It's not far off at this point."

You replied 'They already have and you know it."

They already have what? And, further, what does that have to do with what I expect?

Excuse me... they (repubs) already do "act like democrats". They spend like democrats, they ignore our border problems and they have deep corruption just like the democrats. I've left the GOP... Come on Larry, join me.

Come on now Larry, staying with the GOP is obviously causing your vision to blur.

Oh, and BTW... I am an old-school product of the PG, not the garbage you are seeing today. There is no comparison.
